Central Wisconsin Teachers Learn How Their Students Can Build Their Future At County Materials

Written by Admin | Aug 30, 2018

On August 30, 2018, K-12 educators and post-secondary faculty and staff from Central Wisconsin schools toured County Materials Corporation’s corporate headquarters and block manufacturing plant. The tour was part of the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce’s 2018 educator Workforce Tours that brings local teachers together with businesses in the region.

The Educator Workforce Tour is designed to:

  • Help bridge the gap between education and business.
  • Increase awareness of the workforce needs in the region.
  • Engage in discussion specific to occupational trends across various industry sectors.
  • Support a vibrant talent pipeline by effectively preparing students for future careers.

County Materials frequently hosts tours at production facilities for students in technology and trades classes. Many times, these opportunities are the first time students see and learn about manufacturing career opportunities. This tour gave teachers an idea of how their students can benefit from a career in the manufacturing industry and the options available to students straight out of high school and two-year associate degree programs. Jobs in the manufacturing industry are in high demand, well-paying and come with many benefits. Teachers heard first-hand from managers and supervisors at County Materials about how they grew in the company, and how that internal growth for team members continues today.
