Leading up to National Concrete Pipe Week, US Congressman Daniel Webster of Florida’s 11thDistrict toured County Materials Corporation’s Astatula, FL concrete pipe manufacturing facility. As a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Congressman Webster got a first-hand look at how concrete pipe is manufactured and how County Materials contributes to building safe, reliable storm water management systems for growing American communities.

National Concrete Pipe week was created to recognize the vital role reinforced concrete pipe plays in communities across the nation. Storm water management systems built with reinforced concrete pipe are an integral part of community infrastructure. Elected officials such as Congressman Webster regularly make important votes on funding, regulations, policies, and research regarding our nation’s transportation systems, which is why tours like this one are a valuable opportunity for elected officials to learn how products are manufactured and installed.

As a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Congressman Webster has jurisdiction over clean water and wastewater management, flood damage reduction, urban and rural development, and disaster preparedness, all of which concrete pipe plays a valuable role in. In addition, Congressman Webster is on the subcommittees for Highways and Transit, and Water Resources and Environment. Both subcommittees are responsible for national infrastructure policy including safety and improvement initiatives.

County Materials plant tours show how concrete pipe is made and the value it provides in building long-lasting infrastructure. Additionally, County Materials demonstrates how the concrete pipe industry creates worthwhile career opportunities across the country. Facility tours underscore the indisputable contributions that concrete pipe producers, their team members and their customers make to the American economy, environment and local communities.
