County Materials’ Donation Helps Build Home for Veteran and Family

Written by Admin | Nov 3, 2015

Jackson, WI – County Materials Corporation delivers tons of building materials to job sites across Wisconsin every day. But one delivery to a site on Marshland Drive in the Cranberry Creek subdivision of Jackson, WI this fall was extra special. That’s because it contained a donation of masonry products destined to be used to build a mortgage free home for a returning veteran and his family.

The home is one of two being constructed in Jackson under the direction of the nonprofit Operation FINALLY HOME. Since 2005, the organization has partnered with corporate sponsors, builder associations, builders, developers, individual contributors, and volunteers to help America’s military heroes and their families transition to the home front by addressing one of their most pressing needs—a home to call their own. The two Jackson homes represent Operation FINALLY HOME’s initial launch in the state of Wisconsin.

Over 3 dozen companies have generously donated labor, money and materials to build the Jackson homes. Additional funds were raised through community fundraising. County Materials’ contribution came in the form of a grant provided by its philanthropic branch, the Sonnentag Foundation. Through the grant, Operation FINALLY HOME was able to purchase manufactured stone veneer for the façade of the home. “I’m very grateful to (County Materials) for stepping up and providing the stone for our home,” comments project manager David Belman of Belman Homes. “We appreciate the donations from all the suppliers. I’m blown away by how generous all the trades have been.”

Once completed, the two adjacent homes will be given to Iraq War veteran Drew Wroblewski and his wife, Katelyn, and one additional Wisconsin veteran and his family. “We’re excited to be able to expand into WI and are looking forward to getting two vets in their homes,” says Mollie Halliday, Vice President of Marketing at Operation FINALLY HOME. “We couldn’t do it without great supporters like our team in Jackson. This is a great group of people who are coming together to take the weight off a veteran’s shoulders.”

The projects broke ground in early September and are scheduled for completion in February 2016. For more information about Operation FINALLY HOME, visit www.operationfinallyhome.org.
