Dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all, the YWCA of Rock County transforms lives and communities through education and action to empower women and dismantle racism. With the help of County Materials, the organization offers childcare, Alternatives to Violence programming, Transitions programming, CARE House, and racial justice and immigrant outreach. Women who experience domestic violence get emergency shelter and then transition to economic independence with education, career counseling, and housing services. The CARE House provides a safe place for abused children to be interviewed by law enforcement and other agencies, preventing them from having to enter court.
County Materials, through the Sonnentag Foundation, supports dozens of worthy organizations and causes in four service areas, including Hunger and Homelessness Support, Service Member and Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse and Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring and Skills Building.
