During Concrete Pipe Week, County Materials’ Maxwell operation hosted the Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio Concrete Pipe Association (IKO) and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) officials for a facility tour and discussion on current infrastructure funding, inspection practices, and legislative pushes to use flexible pipe. The tour featured several stations related to the manufacturing and testing processes of reinforced concrete pipe. Once the tour concluded, the group discussed the benefits of reinforced concrete pipe over alternative materials and strategized the narrative they would like to present to local and state policymakers, promoting the specification and use of concrete pipe.
Concrete Pipe Week is a week-long initiative held each August to raise awareness of the sustainability and durability benefits of concrete pipe. Industry leaders engage with federal, state, and local elected officials to discuss and demonstrate the importance of sustainable concrete infrastructure and how they can support these initiatives in relation to the communities they represent.
