County Materials prioritizes educating students about concrete manufacturing and the variety of careers available to them. Recently, we partnered with Lang Masonry and spent three days at Wausau West High School teaching their Building Trades class about concrete masonry construction and industry best practices.
During this educational workshop, students saw demonstrations on how to mix mortar, lay block, and strike joints. They were also taught how to lay brick and stone veneer. The training was hands-on and allowed the students to gain experience working with masonry units and tools. This collaboration helped students understand how to pursue masonry apprenticeships and careers.
County Materials values opportunities to educate students on the many benefits of pursuing a career in the trades and concrete manufacturing, such as earning competitive wages and enjoying stable employment. We host plant tours, participate in career panels, and donate concrete masonry units to classrooms that promote skills development. Enhancing the value of technical education with hands-on learning education inspires students to build their futures in manufacturing and skilled trades.
We also welcome high school graduates and individuals without manufacturing experience and encourage them to apply on our Careers page.
Together, we're building a company that hardworking people are proud to work for, live near, and do business with since 1946.
