Engineers Week was founded more than 70 years ago to educate and engage students who are interested in pursuing engineering and related careers. During Engineers Week, County Materials recognizes the engineers who make our communities more resilient and inspire the next generation of industry professionals.
We asked our Technical Resource Engineer, Jennifer Schaff to share her story, in hopes that it will encourage more women to consider careers in engineering and concrete manufacturing.
Jennifer earned her master’s degree from Michigan Technological University with emphases in geotechnical and water resources. Before joining the County Materials Team in 2016, she worked as a consulting engineer for more than 18 years. Jennifer uses her technical skills to support the concrete pipe industry by educating engineers and municipal leaders about the essential role reinforced concrete pipe fulfills in America’s storm water management systems.
When asked what advice she would give to women who are considering careers in engineering, Jennifer said, “Don’t listen to people who may try to discourage you. Set your goals and visualize them coming to life in detail.”
We are proud of Jennifer’s contributions to our company and industry. In addition to her role with our company, Jennifer serves as the ASCE Wisconsin Section’s President.
