County Materials Supports Underserved Children Through Camp Compass

Written by Admin | Jan 22, 2025

Compass for Kids is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing after-school and summer programs, resources, and support for underserved children. Founded in 2011, its mission is to eliminate the barriers preventing underprivileged children from accessing community programs and reduce the achievement gap between low-income and higher-income students. County Materials proudly partners with Compass for Kids to enhance the lives of children in Springfield, Illinois.

One initiative is Camp Compass, a free summer learning program for underserved elementary students of Springfield Public Schools. Camp Compass aims to prevent summer learning loss, improve reading and math skills, and provide an exciting summer experience for children who might not have other opportunities. The camp combines academic and enrichment activities through out-of-school time (OST) programming, focusing on the holistic development of each child.

Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, County Materials supports dozens of worthy organizations and causes in four key service areas, including Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
