As part of our ongoing dedication to the advancement of the concrete pipe industry, County Materials recently participated in the American Concrete Pipe Association’s Pipe School and Pipe Show. This year’s event was held in Frisco, Texas, in early February, with an additional online component in March.
County Materials’ team members took the opportunity to expand their knowledge, develop their skills, and network at the event, which brought together industry leaders and production staff, statewide transportation departments, consulting engineers, and subject matter experts.
The theme of this year’s Pipe School was “Building Sustainable Resilience,” celebrating the concrete pipe industry’s positive impact on a community’s infrastructure, financial state, long-term sustainability, and overall well-being. Classes covered topics from engineering and production techniques to marketing tactics, and included a track dedicated to DOT technical experts.
“Pipe school is a refreshing reminder of how important relationships are to our work,” says Jennifer Schaff, Technical Resource Engineer with County Materials and an attendee of this year’s event. “Good relationships lead to positive collaboration, where our communication is heard and we are able to listen and really hear what others have to say.”
With a service life that can exceed 100 years, reinforced concrete pipe is a cost-effective material that communities across the country rely on to create flood resilient infrastructure. County Materials is committed to engaging in advocacy, education, and outreach about the role reinforced pipe plays in building safer, stronger communities.
