Creating Life-Changing Camp Experiences to Maximize Opportunities

Written by Admin | Nov 2, 2022

Easterseals Wisconsin, in partnership with County Materials, provides children and adults with disabilities and veterans and their families a camping experience that allows them to live without limits.

Nearly 2,000 campers attend camps near Wisconsin Dells, WI, each year to participate in social and recreational activities in a welcoming and accessible environment. Easterseals Wisconsin offers experiences that cater to specific needs, Camp Wawbeek, Respite Camp, and Veterans Camp. Camp Wawbeek welcomes children and adults. Wawbeek campers gain a sense of independence by trying new activities without limitations, such as high ropes courses and zip lining. Campers with severe disabilities receive individualized care at Respite Camp. Respite campers enjoy an experience that mirrors that of their peers while their attentive 24-hour caregivers relax knowing their loved ones are having fun in a safe, nurturing environment. Veterans Camp allows veterans and their families to reconnect in a week filled with group activities and opportunities to relax.

County Materials, through the Sonnentag American Foundation, supports dozens of worthy organizations and causes in four service areas, including Hunger and Homelessness Support, Service Member and Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse and Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring and Skills Building.
