Florida Receives “C” on Infrastructure Report Card

Written by Admin | Jan 4, 2022

Every four years, the American Society of Civil Engineers Florida Section prepares an Infrastructure Report Card that examines existing infrastructure and identifies opportunities for improvement, using the following criteria: capacity, condition, funding, future need, operation and maintenance, public safety, resilience, and innovation.

In 2021, Florida earned a “C” on its Infrastructure Report Card.

County Materials’ Technical Resource Engineer, Angel DeJesus collaborated with the ASCE Florida Section to prepare the “Roads” section of the report. He says, “Cities across Florida are focused on maintaining existing assets. There’s a strong correlation between well-maintained infrastructure and resilience in the face of increasingly frequent and severe storms.” The value of using reliable products, like concrete pipe for storm water management, impacts many aspects of infrastructure, including roads and public safety.

As a leading manufacturer of reinforced concrete pipe, County Materials is committed to educating policymakers and the public on the importance of flood-resilient infrastructure. Reinforced concrete pipe is the preferred choice for storm water management systems across the country for its rigidity and prolonged service life that can achieve 100 years or greater with minimal maintenance. Serving as structure and conduit, concrete pipe resist flotation and performs in challenging environments. Reinforced concrete pipe will continue to be a critical component of Florida’s storm water infrastructure, as flood protection efforts remain a priority.

County Materials partners with dozens of organizations and associations to support the advancement of the manufacturing and construction industries. Our involvement has enabled us to lead with innovation and provide resilient concrete products that protect local communities – contributions made possible with the hard work and dedication of each of our nearly 2,000 team members.
