County Materials partners with Shelter House in Iowa City, Iowa, to help people move beyond homelessness. More than 900 individuals turn to Shelter House each year for emergency shelter. In addition to a roof, bed, and daily food service, clients receive the tools and support necessary to get back on their feet and thrive in their community.
Shelter House operates a 70-bed emergency shelter in addition to four homes and an apartment building with over 60 permanent supportive housing units. Programs and services assist with housing, employment, and mental health recovery. Shelter House strives to be a catalyst in eradicating homelessness, as its staff members believe housing is a need and a right.
County Materials, through the Sonnentag American Foundation, targets support to worthy organizations like Shelter House. We partner with organizations that support individuals in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Members & Veterans Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
