Alternatives, Inc. supports more than 2,500 women and children each year as they escape abusive relationships at home. County Materials partners with the Central Indiana organization to eradicate domestic and sexual violence through education, prevention, and intervention.
Trained staff work with survivors to draft safety plans, arrange temporary housing, and provide the support and resources to escape cyclical abuse successfully. The organization offers programming for children that focuses on establishing high self-esteem, enhancing school performance, and forming healthy relationships. Alternatives, Inc. extends its services to the community, offering professional training, education sessions, employment training, dating violence prevention, and other workshops catered to survivors and supporters.
Alternatives, Inc. relies on support from County Materials to maintain their various housing services. The organization operates seven emergency shelter unites, five on-site transitional housing units, thirteen scattered-site transitional housing units, and ten rapid rehousing units. These shelters are designed to meet survivors’ needs both at the moment of crisis and as they rebuild their lives free of violence.
Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, County Materials supports worthy organizations and causes in four key service areas, including Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
