Providing Hope & Healing for Child Victims of Abuse with the Amy Center

Written by Admin | Oct 30, 2024

The Amy Schulz Child Advocacy Center provides a safe haven for children who are victims of sexual or severe physical abuse. County Materials partners with the organization to support their mission to provide trauma-informed intervention, prevention, education, and advocacy services for the best interest of abused children.

The center was founded in 1990 by Dennis Schulz in memory of his daughter, Amy, who was abducted, sexually assaulted, and murdered. Dennis' goal was to ease the pain of child sexual abuse victims and to prevent other children from experiencing the tragedy of sexual abuse. To that end, the organization works to reduce the number of interviews a child victim must endure and coordinate and deliver services in an expeditious manner. The organization also offers a comprehensive child abuse prevention program to children in preschool through high school.

In 2023, The Amy Center served 388 clients — the highest case count in its history. The organization also conducted 302 forensic interviews and provided the Body Boundaries Program in 43 schools and civic groups, reaching over 4,085 children plus 1,586 teens and 320 adults.

County Materials partners with worthy organizations through the Sonnentag American Foundation in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
