The Salvation Army Florida Division is dedicated to doing the most good by meeting people’s needs for food, shelter, storm relief, and other services. The organization assesses the need of each community it serves, builds programs for immediate relief and long-term success, and then invests in the community.
Disaster relief has been part of The Salvation Army’s mission for more than 100 years. Experience and training allow The Salvation Army to rapidly respond to the need for food, shelter, social services, donation management, emergency communication, and recovery. To support Hurricane Ian relief efforts, The Salvation Army Florida Division provided more than 200,000 meals in the first weeks after Hurricane Ian struck Florida. The organization also coordinated volunteers who gave 21,000 hours of service.
Beyond disaster relief, The Salvation Army of Florida creates opportunities for the long-term success of families through programs that use case management to provide job training, health services, education, childcare, financial literacy, and a support network.
County Materials, through the Sonnentag American Foundation, supports dozens of worthy organizations and causes in four service areas, including Hunger and Homelessness Support, Service Member and Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse and Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring and Skills Building.
