United Way of Lake and Sumter Counties is addressing the community’s greatest needs. The organization works to improve the quality of life for at least 40 percent of Lake and Sumter County residents through education, health care, and income stability programs. Veterans, service members and their families are an area of focus through Mission United. Because more than 34,000 veterans reside in Lake and Sumter Counties. Mission United provides direct services and assistance in navigating the benefits system to receive access to resources. The program assists with medical transportation, employment, legal help, education, health care, and financial and housing stability.
Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, County Materials supports dozens of worthy organizations and causes in four key service areas, including Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
