Wauwatosa and Elmbrook School Districts Offer Students Blocklaying Experience with County Materials Donation

Written by Admin | Dec 17, 2021

County Materials donated concrete masonry units to Wauwatosa School District’s Pre-Apprenticeship Program. Bricklayer and Allied Craftworkers Local #8 partnered with the Wauwatosa and Elmbrook School Districts to help more than 30 high school students discover what it takes to be a mason. The students built leads and laid block in the Wauwatosa East High School classroom workshop.

“The skills gap in the trades cannot be solved by a single entity. It takes supply and tool vendors, employers, and educators to work together. Material donations like this make powerful learning opportunities for my students” -Craig Griffie, Wauwatosa East High School Teacher, Certified Pre-Apprenticeship Program Administrator
