Leading up to Concrete Pipe Week, several governors have held formal signings to create state proclamations declaring August 18-24 Concrete Pipe Week. To date, signings have been done by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.
Concrete Pipe Week was created to recognize the vital role reinforced concrete pipe plays in communities across the nation. During Concrete Pipe Week, pipe producers host plant tours and engage federal, state and local elected officials in discussions about product quality, performance and resilience as they relate to storm water infrastructure. Proclamations underscore the indisputable contributions that concrete pipe producers, their team members and their customers make to the American economy, environment and local communities.
For example, the Iowa Proclamation declares, “reinforced concrete pipe and precast concrete products are of vital importance to sustainable communities and to the health, safety, and well-being of the people of Iowa; and it is in the public interest for citizens, civic leaders, and children in Iowa to gain knowledge of and to maintain a progressive interest and understand the importance of reinforced concrete pipe and precast concrete in their respective communities, therefore, I, Kim Reynolds, Governor of the State of Iowa, do hereby proclaim the week of August 18-24, 2019 as Concrete Pipe Week in Iowa.”
