On August 23rd, Illinois State Representative Mike Murphy visited County Materials’ Springfield, IL reinforced concrete manufacturing plant for a tour in recognition of National Concrete Pipe Week.
The tour included information about the company’s history, safety initiatives, a demonstration of the manufacturing process for reinforced concrete pipe, and education on why concrete pipe is the clear choice for building safe, resilient storm water management systems in local communities. A point of emphasis was that unlike alternative materials, reinforced concrete pipe does not burn, float, corrode prematurely, or collapse under loads designed into the pipe’s structure.
National Concrete Pipe week was created to recognize the vital role reinforced concrete pipe plays in communities across the nation. Storm water management systems built with reinforced concrete pipe are an integral part of community infrastructure. County Materials supported National Concrete Pipe week by sharing industry appreciation with customers and industry partners, as well as hosting plant tours across the company’s many locations for elected officials and industry professionals.
