County Materials' Charity Golf Outing Raises Record Total

caption2This year marks the 10th annual Charity Golf Outing hosted by County Materials Corporation to raise funds for charities supported by the Sonnentag Foundation. Each year, the amount raised has surpassed the previous one, and this year is no exception. County Materials’ 2016 Charity Golf Outing, which took place September 16th at the Wausau Country Club, raised $156,500 – $16,500 more than last year’s event. Participants in this year’s event also helped County Materials celebrate its 70th anniversary. Since 1946, the family owned, American-based manufacturing company has grown into a diversified organization with more than 42 locations in six states.

County Materials has raised more than $762,150 for organizations since the company first started hosting a charity golf outing in 2007. One hundred percent of the funds raised are distributed by the Sonnentag Foundation, whose philanthropic interests are strategically focused on supporting programs and projects that empower and inspire people in communities where County Materials has facilities. Preference is given to mentoring programs for children, support services for women who experience domestic violence and sexual assault, outreach programs and vocational skills training for veterans, as well as social and recreational camps for children and adults with disabilities and respite for their care givers.

Over 75 sponsors supported this year’s event, including major event sponsors U.S. Ventures and Hansen Reynolds Dickinson Crueger LLC, and presenting and supporting event sponsors Fabick Cat, Hawkeye Pedershaab, Insteel Wire Products, GCP Applied Technologies, Sika Corporation, Lafarge, von Briesen & Roper s.c., Truck Country, Rock Road Companies Inc., Continental Cement, Voeller Mixers and Rocket Industrial.

Rebecca Sonnentag, Vice President of Communications and Promotions at County Materials, is markedly impressed and thankful for all the corporate sponsors and their continued participation. “The wide-reaching impact our golf outing funds make in communities would not be possible without the support of the amazing corporate partners in our industry,” she says. “To see so many companies coming together and making a difference where it matters is incredible. Our industry partners can take pride in knowing they are improving the lives of many children, families, and disadvantaged people in our local communities.”

After last year’s successful event, funds from 2015 were distributed to 20 different charitable organizations, directly impacting over 19,300 people who benefit from these services and resources. The recipients in 2015 include Easter Seals Wisconsin and their Respite and Recreation Camps in Wisconsin Dells; 12 Wisconsin and Illinois chapters of Big Brothers Big Sisters; the Women’s Community in Wausau, WI; HOPE of East Central Illinois; YWCA of Rock County, IL; Alternatives in Anderson, IL; Grace Place Salvation Army of New Richmond, WI; Amy Schulz Child Advocacy Center in Mt. Vernon, IL; and Lake Cares Food Pantry in Mount Dora, FL.
