County Materials Charity Golf Outing Raises $71,500 for United Way

Sep 26, 2011

County Materials Corporation raised more than $71,500 for United Way during its annual charity golf outing, held September 8, 2011, at the Wausau Country Club.

The event has consistently grown each year and brings together many different participants from around the globe, including employees, construction related businesses and industry professionals who are committed to giving back to communities and helping people in need.

All event expenses are covered by County Materials, ensuring that every dollar contributed is invested in critical United Way programs. This year, the outing is funding three United Way chapters within Marathon and Portage counties and the greater Milwaukee area.

As a result of County Materials’ contribution, United Way of Marathon County was given an additional $25,000 matching grant from the Esther Greenheck Foundation. United Way of Portage County was given an additional $23,500 matching grant from an anonymous donor. In addition, United Way of Greater Milwaukee was given $23,500 in matching grants from the following organizations:
•    M & I, a part of BMO Financial Group Education Challenge Grant
•    Fidicuary Management, Inc. Income Challenge Grant
•    Milwaukee Health Care Partnership Community Health Centers Challenge Grant partnering with Aurora Health Care, Wheaton Franciscan Health Care, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Columbia St. Mary’s and Froedtert

Former Green Bay Packer players William Henderson and LeRoy Butler participated as golfers and special guest speakers for the event, along with several United Way volunteers.

“County Materials supports United Way’s goals and their proven strategies to create opportunities and make lasting changes within communities by focusing on the areas of education, income and health -  these are the building blocks for people and families,” says Rebecca Sonnentag, marketing manager.
