County Materials' Charity Golf Outing Supports 20 Community Organizations

Jan 21, 2016

Since 2007, County Materials Corporation has hosted an annual Golf Outing to raise funds for charities supported by the Sonnentag Foundation. Every year, the amount raised has exceeded that of the year before; their latest outing did not disappoint. County Materials’ 2015 Annual Charity Golf Outing, which took place Sept. 3, 2015 at the Wausau Country Club, raised $140,000 – over $35,000 more than last year’s event.

One hundred percent of the funds raised in 2015 were distributed directly to 20 different charities funded by the Sonnentag Foundation. These nonprofit organizations and programs are making a lasting difference for children and families in local communities where County Materials has facilities.

The recipients for 2015 funds include Easter Seals Wisconsin’s Respite and Recreation Camps in Wisconsin Dells; 12 Wisconsin and Illinois chapters of Big Brothers Big Sisters; the Women’s Community in Wausau, WI; HOPE of East Central Illinois; YWCA of Rock County, IL; Alternatives in Anderson, IL; Grace Place (Salvation Army) of New Richmond, WI; Amy’s Center in Mt. Vernon, IL; and Lake Cares Food Pantry in Mount Dora, FL.

Rebecca Sonnentag, County Materials’ Vice President of Communications and Promotions, is especially grateful to the golf outing’s corporate sponsors for making the event a success. “We are very proud to partner with generous corporate partners in our industry who want to make a positive and lasting impact,” she says. “They have been so enthusiastic and are really vital to the success of the event. It’s amazing to see so many different companies coming together to improve the lives of children, families and disadvantaged people in our local communities.”

Over 50 sponsors supported the 2015 event, including the major event sponsor U.S. Venture, and supporting event sponsors Grace Construction Products, Hawkeye Pedershaab, Insteel, LaFarge, Rock Road Companies, Inc., Truck Country, and Von Briesen & Roper.

Since County Materials began hosting a charity golf outing, the Sonnentag Foundation has donated more than $465,650 to worthwhile community programs and charitable organizations. The Sonnentag Foundation’s philanthropic interests are strategically focused on supporting programs and projects that empower and inspire people in locations where County Materials has facilities. Preference is given to regional construction and landscape projects that serve the broader community, mentoring programs for children, support services for women who experience domestic violence and sexual assault, outreach programs and vocational skills training for veterans, as well as social and recreational camps for children and adults with disabilities and respite for their caregivers.
