County Materials Demonstrates Support for Local Communities with Material Donation to Iowa City, IA Fire Department
County Materials demonstrated its support of communities where the company has locations by recently donating precast concrete materials to the Iowa City, IA Fire Department for the use in training exercises. County Materials previously made material donations to the Iowa City Fire Department in 2016 when the company donated several precast concrete components that allowed the fire department to hold a four-day training exercise designed to enhance their technical response ability in emergency rescues. This most recent donation will expand the fire department’s training area and add several configurations for simulating new scenarios.
Zach Hickman, Captain of the Special Operations Response Team, credits County Materials with making this training possible. “The concrete structures from County Materials allow us to set up different configurations to simulate disaster situations. With the numerous pieces donated in the past and through these continued donations, our department will be able to rearrange the configuration and provide training for years to come.”
This hands-on experience makes a difference; the fire department serves an area with more than 70,000 residents and responds to nearly 5,000 emergency calls each year. As a result of this donation, the fire department will be able to practice more complex rescue missions and therefore be able to better serve their community.
County Materials is committed to supporting communities, organizations and schools where the company has locations. This donation is one example of how County Materials demonstrates its Vision of Success, Stability and Support
