County Materials Earns National Recognition at Hardscape North America as a Manufacturer in Three Award-Winning Hardscape Projects

Oct 19, 2018

County Materials congratulates Aqua-Paving Construction of Yorkville, Ill., Paul’s Landscaping of Vesper, Wis., and The Sharper Edge Landscaping of De Pere, Wis., for being recognized in the 11th Annual Hardscape North America (HNA) Awards. Hosted by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI), the awards program recognizes the top projects in the industry at a national level. Awards are given to contractors for their exceptional work on residential and commercial walkways, patios, driveways, commercial plazas, parking lots, streets and more. Projects are selected for their design, quality of construction, compatibility with related construction materials, construction innovation, and overall excellence. This year’s awards event took place at the HNA Trade Show in Louisville, Ken., on October 18th, 2018.

Aqua-Paving Construction won top honors in the Concrete Permeable Paver Commercial Category for their work on the permeable parking lot for Community First Credit Union in Neenah, Wis. This project was selected for the unique pattern and aesthetics offered by Harmony Permeable Pavers™ used for this expansive parking lot and for the quality of construction and craftsmanship in cutting hundreds of pavers to fit the contours of the site design. In addition, the installation process achieved construction innovation through the process of machine installation. Harmony Permeable Pavers are engineered specifically for this type of installation. Each pallet arrives onsite pre-arranged in a unique pattern, ready for immediate installation. Because of the large size of this job, machine installation was an obvious choice. Machine installation allowed for the parking lot to be completed in exactly one week, which included a day and a half of grading and setting base aggregates. If the pavers were conventionally laid by hand, the timeframe may have been extended to two months.

Paul’s Landscaping received an honorable mention in the Residential Segmental Retaining Wall category for their work on the Rain Dance Trail Residence patio and retaining wall. This project was selected for its impressive combination of size, design, and engineering skill. The large terraced retaining walls were constructed with County Block® Retaining Wall System units. County Block’s versatility and simple pin system offered a solution to leveling out the extreme elevation changes in the backyard allowing for maximum patio space near the home. The project’s design includes an impressive round parapet built on one end of the wall, which creates an intimate gathering place around a firepit. The terraced walls in this project were engineered for lasting stability and performance.

The Sharper Edge Landscaping received an honorable mention in the Residential Concrete Paver less than 3,000 sq. ft. category for their installation at the Aviator Court Residence. This project was honored for its creative use of County Materials’ concrete pavers in different styles and color combinations to create seperate areas each with its own distinctive feel. The project utilized Crest™ Bullnose Pavers in Timeless color, 4”x8” Elements™ Paving Stones in Reunion color, 8”x8”, 8”x16”, and 16”x16” Elements Paving Stones in Timeless, and Destination® Pavers in Timeless. In addition, the project utilizes Tribute® Retaining Wall System to create elevated areas and steps.

HNA is the only award program that celebrates the work of professional hardscape contractors on a national level. County Materials continues to make a positive impact in the industry and is pleased to be recognized as a manufacturer in the 2018 HNA Awards. County Materials extends congratulations to all the award-winning contractors for their construction excellence.
