County Materials Partners with Patriot K9s of Wisconsin to Support Veterans with Rescued Service Dogs
Patriot K9s of Wisconsin is dedicated to training and educating veterans and service canines in post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injuries, and military sexual trauma. Veteran and service dog pairs are trained together to learn techniques for mitigating the effects of stress, anxiety, and other factors that can prevent individuals from living a healthy and fulfilling life. Service dogs are taught to retrieve medication, ground handlers during an episode, and turn on lights during night terrors to provide security and reduce suicidal tendencies.
Approximately 20 veterans or service members die by suicide each day in the United States. Patriot K9s is devoted to minimizing that statistic. Through the Sonnentag Foundation, County Materials supports Patriot K9s of Wisconsin in their mission to train shelter dogs into quality service companions at no cost to veterans with disabilities.
Through the Sonnentag Foundation, County Materials supports dozens of charitable organizations in four key service areas: Service Member & Veteran Support, Hunger & Homelessness Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
