County Materials Partners with Shelter House to Provide More Than a Roof and a Bed
For nearly 40 years, Shelter House has provided safe emergency shelter and helped people improve the quality of their lives as they move beyond homelessness. The organization does more than provide a roof and a bed; it strives to be a catalyst and voice for systemic community change in the pursuit of eradicating homelessness. When clients arrive at Shelter House, they are provided a bed, daily food service, case management, and housing and employment services. Clients of diverse backgrounds and abilities benefit from Shelter House’s inclusive services, including transitional housing for individuals with chronic mental illness. The organization and its staff believe housing is the greatest social determinant of health and it is a need and a right. Each year, Shelter House provides more than 900 individuals emergency shelter, 15 percent of whom are children.
Through the Sonnentag Foundation, County Materials supports dozens of charitable organizations in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
