County Materials Partners with the Education Foundation of Lake County to Power Public Education
The Education Foundation of Lake County connects the community with public education to enhance the quality of instruction and ensure the success of high school students in Florida’s Lake and Sumter counties. The organization supports student scholarships, mentors, teacher classroom grants, school supply distributions, Take Stock in Children, and several teacher and volunteer recognition initiatives. The Education Foundation of Lake County raises $375,000 and impacts the lives of more than 15,500 students each year.
Take Stock in Children
Take Stock in Children is a scholarship and mentor program designed to break the cycle of poverty for low-income, academically qualified students and provide opportunities for post-secondary education. Students begin the program during their sophomore year of high school and are paired with adult volunteer mentors. Upon high school graduation, scholarships are awarded for any public college, university, or trade school in Florida. The program inspires students and their families by empowering them to achieve their dreams of higher education.
Through the Sonnentag Foundation, County Materials supports dozens of charitable organizations in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
