County Materials’ Ready-Mix Donated to Habitat for Humanity Home

Jul 11, 2022

Students from D.C. Everest High School’s Building Trades Class are completing their 15th home for the Wausau Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity is an international non-profit organization that builds affordable homes for families working alongside volunteers during construction. Students in the building trades class gain valuable hands-on experience.

The home was largely constructed offsite before being moved to its final location. Site preparation included building a foundation with ready-mix concrete donated by County Materials. For more than 20 years, County Materials has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Wausau to provide families the experience of owning a home. The company donates approximately 150 cubic yards of ready-mix each year to form the homes’ foundations and keep building costs affordable.

"We thank [County Materials] and the Sonnentag Foundation for their continued, generous support of Habitat’s mission and our 70th home build,” said Kim Tallitsch, Operations Director Habitat for Humanity of Wausau.

Through the Sonnentag Foundation, County Materials supports dozens of charitable organizations in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
