County Materials Supplies Four Award-Winning Projects in the 2021 Excellence in Masonry Competition

The Wisconsin Masonry Alliance hosted the 2021 Excellence in Masonry Awards on April 29, 2021. The program recognizes masonry projects exemplifying great design, inspiring material usage, and quality construction. We extend a warm congratulations to the designers, contractors, and suppliers who were recognized for their exemplary work.

County Materials supplied four award-winning projects in this year’s event. We are proud to be a leading concrete masonry manufacturer and trusted supplier of clay and natural stone products.

Best of Clay Masonry – Jules Verne at Epic
This one-of-a-kind office was inspired by the works of Jules Verne, including Around the World in 80 Days and Twenty-Thousand Leagues Beneath the Sea. The combination of glaze, limestone, and concrete brought the project to life and demonstrated the design versatility of masonry materials.

CMC indigo hotel 1

Merit in Clay Masonry – Hotel Indigo
Hotel Indigo is a boutique hotel located in Madison, WI. Traditional clay brick was used to form the building’s sophisticated façade, featuring quoined corners and protruding details.

CMC Kenneth Ardyce Community Stadium 1

Best of Concrete Masonry – Kenneth & Ardyce Heiting Community Stadium
County Materials’ Heritage Collection™ Designer Concrete Brick was used to construct the community stadium’s grandstand, concessions building, wall of champions, and fence posts. The column details featured throughout the project create a strong, cohesive visual.

CMC Jules verne 2

The Dennis Wilichowski Craftsmanship Award – Jules Verne at Epic
Jules Verne at Epic was also awarded the Dennis Wilichoski Craftsmanship Award for its inspiring use of clay masonry and unmatched attention to detail.

CMC bowman hall 1

Restoration Award – University of Wisconsin Stout – Bowman Hall
Historic Bowman Hall was constructed in 1897 using cast brick. As the building began to show signs of wear, complementing masonry units were installed to reconstruct the building’s protruding details and preserve its traditional character.
