Empowering Communities to End Domestic Violence with The Women’s Community
The Women’s Community in Wausau, Wisconsin, has been transforming lives and empowering communities to end violence and oppression for more than 40 years. Recognizing that domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking can happen to anyone, the organization provides shelter, food, clothing, confidential counseling, advocacy, and support groups to victims of all genders and ages. All services are free to those who need them.
County Materials supports The Women’s Community in their goal to help individuals and families attain greater emotional and economic self-sufficiency.
In 2023, the organization served 1,912 individuals, including 222 children. The Women’s Center provided almost 8,000 nights of shelter and reached more than 3,500 participants with youth oriented and prevention education.
County Materials, through the Sonnentag American Foundation, supports dozens of worthy organizations and causes in four service areas, including Hunger and Homelessness Support, Service Member and Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse and Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring and Skills Building.
