Honor the Fallen by Helping the Wounded

Oct 25, 2019

Camp Hope | Farmington, MO

Camp Hope is a retreat for military veterans wounded in the Global War on Terror. Camp Hope covers all expenses for combat-wounded veterans, including travel, and provides ADA-compliant cabins, food and supplies, and an attentive all-volunteer staff to support veterans with almost any disability.  Situated in rural Farmington, Missouri, approximately 80 miles south of St. Louis, Camp Hope is in the heartland of America.

Camp Hope receives funding from County Materials’ annual charity golf outing. To demonstrate the company’s Vision of Success, Stability and Support, County Materials is contributing to military personnel and veteran support services in communities where the company has locations.

William “Mike” and Galia White founded Camp Hope after their son Christopher paid the ultimate price for our freedoms and was killed while serving in Iraq in 2006. Chris’s family has chosen to keep his spirit alive by helping disabled veterans and sharing with them his passion for hunting and fishing. They treat every guest of Camp Hope as members of their own family. Their love, compassion and selflessness is the secret sauce that makes Camp Hope such a special place.

With cool streams, winding creeks, granite boulders, gravel paths, tall trees and an abundance of wildlife there is plenty of open space for hiking, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing and exploring. Visits by honored guests often center around deer and turkey seasons.

Our Giving in Action

Joe Bogart was one of the very first combat-wounded veterans to visit Camp Hope. Since that visit back in 2007, Joe has remained a loyal supporter and now volunteers to help others. Joe’s combat service left him legally blind. He is still on active-duty and serves on the Camp Hope Board of Directors.

“I got a new sense of independence down here; I got a part of my old self back,” said Joe. “I healed in ways I didn’t know I needed too… I advocate for Camp Hope because it heals.
