Supporting Youth After Foster Care Through HeadsUp Fox Cities

Sep 3, 2025

HeadsUp Fox Cities strives to empower young individuals transitioning out of the foster care system. As a previous foster youth, the founder witnessed the barriers and inadequate support present in the child welfare system. Determined to improve foster youth services, she established HeadsUp to support young adults from challenging backgrounds and connect them with opportunities to help them reach their potential.

Only 3-6% of former foster youth obtain a college degree, and many struggle to find and hold jobs, reflecting the many barriers they face in adulthood. To help close this gap, the County Materias Family of Companies partners with HeadsUp Fox Cities to provide funding for the HeadsUp Method, a program that offers mentorship, life skills development, resource navigation, and housing for participants. The method was developed by individuals who have lived foster care experience, and each program is led by the participants' specific needs, goals, and dreams.

Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, the County Materials Family of Companies supports organizations like HeadsUp Fox Cities in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
