Supporting Youth Through the Lakeland STAR Golf Outing

Aug 15, 2025

The Howard Young Foundation (HYF) is devoted to actively seeking and investing charitable support to improve the health and wellness of all people living in the Northern Wisconsin communities they serve.

Earlier this year, the foundation hosted its Annual Lakeland STAR Golf Outing, an event supporting students from Lakeland STAR School, Lakeland STAR Academy, and the Rising STAR Transition Center, which serve individuals with autism and other diverse learning needs. The event included food, entertainment, a full day of golf, and an evening event at the Minocqua Country Club.

County Materials sponsored the golf outing in support of the Lakeland STAR school, which empowers youth to build self-reliance and maximize their capabilities. Students receive Individualized Education Plans and have access to counseling, specialized therapies, sensory rooms and equipment, a driver’s education simulator and training program, and more.

Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, County Materials partners with worthy organizations like the Howard Young Foundation that support individuals in four key service areas: Hunger and Homelessness Support, Veteran and Service Member Support, Sexual Abuse and Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring and Skills Building.
