The Women’s Center Helps 1,100 Individuals Impacted by Abuse with Help from County Materials
For 45 years, The Women’s Center of Waukesha County, Wisconsin, has provided advocacy, support, and shelter in its mission to empower all who are impacted by abuse, sexual violence, child abuse, and trafficking. Its vision is to create an engaged community that does not tolerate violence and provides resources to secure futures free from abuse.
With support from County Materials, The Women’s Center provides advocacy and counseling services free of charge. Childcare is provided onsite during advocacy and support group sessions. Emergency services include shelter, a 24-hour hotline, and sexual assault crisis response. More than 1,100 people receive direct help each year and the hotline answers more than 7,000 calls annually. Community outreach includes more than 200 school presentations.
Through the Sonnentag Foundation, County Materials supports dozens of charitable organizations in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
