Since 1973, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Rock County has been dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals 55+. To help seniors remain independent as long as possible, RSVP connects them with community service opportunities, such as providing rides to appointments and grocery stores.
One standout initiative, the Foster Grandparent Program, connects senior volunteers with local youth who need a stable adult in their lives. Volunteers spend between 5 and 20 hours a week helping foster grandchildren with homework, offering advice, sharing experiences, and tutoring in math and literacy.
Isolation and loneliness are significant public health concerns that impact the well-being of older adults. To tackle this concern, County Materials partners with RSVP to provide a variety of volunteer opportunities, which facilitate meaningful interactions and allow seniors to make a positive impact in their community.
Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, County Materials supports worthy organizations like Retired and Senior Volunteers of Rock County. We provide support in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Member & Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
