Since 1978, the Mine Safety and Health Administration has issued Certificates of Achievement in Safety to eligible mine operations. These awards are set aside for operations that meet the highest safety standards nationally and have met exceptional milestones of hours worked without a lost time injury. Recently, three of County Materials Corporation’s mining locations received the prestigious award for accomplishments made in 2017.
The first location recognized was County Materials’ Crushing Spread Plant in Marathon, WI which at the time of the award met 5,354 employee hours worked without a lost workday injury in 2017. The Trempealeau, WI location also received the award for meeting 5,255 employee hours worked without a lost workday injury in 2017. Lastly, County Materials’ Custer, WI location received the award for meeting 14,028 employee hours worked without a lost workday injury.
“I think it is great that County Materials is getting recognized for the company’s commitment to safety,” said Joe Fleming, Foreman at County Materials’ Crushing Spread Plant in Marathon. “Team members at my location take safety very seriously because even one day lost time can make a big impact on a person, their family, and the company. County Materials is excellent at promoting safety. Throughout my time here the company has grown significantly and has always put safety first.”
