Solution: Concrete landscape materials transform a sloped backyard into a serene patio with an inviting lake access.
This home in a newly constructed subdivision in Cottleville, Mo., has a peaceful view of a small lake from its back deck, but to fully enjoy the view, the homeowners needed to stabilize the backyard’s slope. Using concrete landscape products manufactured by County Materials, the homeowners enhanced their outdoor living space by adding a paver patio, a retaining wall, and an elegant staircase leading to the lakeside walking path.
The patio connects the lower entrance to the deck steps and leads to the lake access staircase. Featuring a creative inlay pattern that highlights the walkway to the lake access, it was built with Grand XL DISCOVER PAVERS® in Allure, Grand DISCOVER PAVERS® in Majestic, and 4x8 ELEMENTSTM PAVERS in Vision and Reflection.
To stabilize the slope and expand the usable space in the backyard, a retaining wall was built along the edge of the property. The retaining wall was constructed with Smooth TRIBUTE® WALL SYSTEMS in Majestic to match the Grand DISCOVER PAVERS used on the patio, with an accent stripe and wall caps in Reflection to match the border pavers. The graceful curve of the retaining wall, which is divided in the center by a staircase, mirrors the curve of the patio and walkway above, unifying the whole design.
