This multi-tiered backyard patio with a fire pit, water feature, lawn areas, and outdoor dining space is beautiful from every angle. The homeowners wanted to transform their steeply sloped backyard into an aesthetically pleasing and functional space for entertaining guests and specified County Materials’ concrete landscape products to achieve their vision.
The homeowners selected Discover Pavers® in striated gray tones for the seating and firepit areas. The pavers are manufactured as a three-piece module so they can be used alone or melded with compatible pavers to create one-of-a-kind installations.
To add both function and visual appeal to this project, a retaining wall system was installed in rich shades of gray that complement the concrete pavers. Compatible with a wide variety of hardscape materials, these walls form stable terraces suitable for both mulched natural areas and grassy areas. The simplicity of the color palette, combined with abundant greenery, creates a serene, welcoming space that invites guests to sit and linger.
Project Highlights:
Project leaders overcame many challenges to create the multi-tiered retaining wall system, including managing drainage on a steep, diagonal slope, working in a space with limited access, and modifying pavers to create the many curved lines of the design. The project was completed in eight weeks in early summer, leaving the homeowners with plenty of time to enjoy their first summer in their new outdoor living space.
