The owners of this new home in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, wanted to create a backyard oasis with a patio that incorporated natural landscape elements with long-lasting materials. Drawn to the vibrant, natural tones of County Materials’ color palette, they brought their vision to life with a variety of concrete landscape products.
The 850-square-foot patio expanded the functionality of the backyard with an outdoor living space featuring a dining area, lounging area, grill area, and recessed fire pit. Hidden light fixtures under the fire ring cap and the retaining wall improve safety and add dimensionality to the space.
The patio features Grand Discover Pavers® in Timeless, which are manufactured in large three-piece modules that save money during installation by covering large areas quickly. The Tribute® Retaining Wall System was used to create a level surface for the upper patio and to form a bench around the fire pit that also marks off an attractive raised bed for greenery. The rounded edges of Prestige™ Coping Pavers soften the overall appearance while offering a wide, stable tread for two short staircases. The same coping pavers were also used for the seat wall cap around the fire pit, tying the spaces of the design together.
Designed to offer long-lasting color and to withstand wear and freeze/thaw cycles, concrete landscape products are well-suited for outdoor living spaces in the Upper Midwest.
Installation of the patio took two weeks, including excavation of excess topsoil to ensure the patio would rest on a stable clay base. County Materials’ readily available products and timely delivery ensured the project was completed without delays.
