Civil Construction Pathway Teacher Training Week: Preparing the Next Generation

Jul 17, 2025

The first week of June was Work IN Roads Civil Construction Pathway Teacher Training Week, a professional development opportunity for educators in Indiana. This initiative aims to equip teachers with industry knowledge to prepare the next generation of construction professionals.

Throughout the week, educators are involved in site visits, interactions with engaging industry professionals, and hands-on activities, such as operating equipment and learning surveying skills. Participants have the chance to explore road construction, mining, and concrete production, and learn about related equipment, materials, and techniques.

Our Technical Resource Engineer, Steve Smart, led a presentation at a County Materials job site, demonstrating our company’s commitment to industry involvement and education. During the presentation, teachers were educated about stormwater drainage and reinforced concrete pipe.

During Civil Construction Pathway Teacher Training Week, participating teachers gain valuable insights into the construction industry, which they can share with students to help them make informed career decisions.
