Concrete Paver Donation Helps Construct Local Veterans Memorial
County Materials donated concrete pavers for the construction of the Thorp Veterans Remembrance Park. The American Legion Cecil Tormey Post 118 initiated the memorial to honor veterans connected to Thorp through birth, education, or employment.
The memorial is adjacent to Conway Park and consists of a pentagon-shaped concrete slab, 40-foot flags to represent the five military branches, and a 50-foot American flag in the center flanked by the Wisconsin flag and POW/MIA flag. The veterans’ names are engraved on granite tablets near the pentagon points, and legacy stones are etched on the concrete.
County Materials, through the Sonnentag American Foundation, donates to worthy causes, organizations, and projects such as this one at Thorp Veterans Remembrance Park.
