October was manufacturing month in Wisconsin. In celebration of the area’s manufacturing sector, the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce hosted its first Manufacturing Excellence Awards on October 4th, 2016.
County Materials Corporation was named one of six finalists nominated in the large manufacturers category.
Manufacturing is a vital industry in Wisconsin, accounting for more than 450,000 jobs and $50 billion in revenue. In Marathon County, manufacturing is a necessity creating 22% of the region’s total economic activity. The Wausau Chamber of Commerce Manufacturing Excellence Awards was established to recognize the impact manufacturing has on the region and to educate the community on the high quality of life manufacturing provides for thousands of families in Marathon County.
County Materials was named a finalist in the inaugural event for displaying excellence in contributing to growth in the region’s economy, operations, innovation, workplace culture, quality jobs, supply chain management and commitment to the region. County Materials has a rich history of manufacturing in the Wausau region. Founded in 1946, County Materials celebrated 70 years in business this year and is continuing to grow.
