County Materials Participates in National Safety Stand Down Focused on Preventing Falls
County Materials recently participated in a national safety initiative focused on preventing falls.
From May 6th to May 10th, employers around the country participated in an Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) Safety Stand-Down that aimed to raise awareness of the risks associated with falls, and encourage safe work practices to prevent them. A Safety Stand-Down is an event where businesses focus their efforts on a particular safety-related topic and discuss ways to prevent or reduce the risks with their team members.
As part of the national initiative, team members at our facilities participated in a discussion about preventing falls.
Falls present a risk of serious injury and are a hazard in every type of workplace. Falls may occur due to slipping when there is not enough traction, tripping on objects placed in walkways, or working at heights or near a leading edge without proper protection.
During the discussion, team members identified specific fall hazards in their working areas and discussed best practices to keep surfaces free of debris or spills, maintain clear walkways, and prevent falls from heights.
The goal of this event aligns with our GUARD for Life program and our company culture. Safety is a key component of County Materials’ Vision of Success, Stability and Support, which is why we invest in safety initiatives and training, and actively recognize the hard work and dedication of our team members who reach safety milestones throughout the company.
GUARD for Life was created by County Materials to continually reinforce safe ways of thinking, identify hazards, and practice safety in our lives at work and at home. We regularly share safety tips and reminders with our team members through internal communications and meetings, and we hold annual Safety Stand Down events at many of our production facilities.
