Apr 30, 2019

County Materials is helping prepare students for careers in trade and skilled occupations by sponsoring teams and meeting with students in this week’s Skills USA State Leadership & Skills Conference at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI. The 2019 conference includes more than 1,800 middle and high school students from around the state, more than 200 teachers, and over 300 industry volunteers working in more than 80 competitions.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives, working together to ensure America has a skilled work force and serves students preparing for careers in trade and skilled occupations. The event hosts industry representatives to teach students about the available career opportunities and challenges students with many competitions. Competitions will be conducted in a wide array of skill sets, including Masonry, Architectural Drafting/CAD, Automotive Service Technology, Cabinetmaking, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Robotics and Automation, Welding, Woodworking, and dozens more.

County Materials’ attendance and sponsorship of local high schools from Central Wisconsin who are competing at Skills USA is one example of how the company demonstrates its Vision of Success, Stability and Support.
