Salvation Army Grace Place | New Richmond, WI
Grace Place is a homeless shelter for families and single individuals. When a family or individual comes to stay at Grace Place, case managers work directly with them to make a plan to help them become permanently housed and regain their independence. The goal is that they leave the shelter stronger and better equipped to move forward toward a secure future.
Grace Place has tutoring programs for the children who stay there, and case managers work with moms, dads and single individuals to seek employment, get needed medical care, sign up for services they qualify for, find housing or get accepted into a housing program. Grace Place has led to 76% of families and individuals leaving the shelter and finding permanent housing.
Salvation Army Grace Place receives funding from County Materials’ annual charity golf outing. To demonstrate the company’s Vision of Success, Stability and Support, County Materials is contributing to organizations that provide hunger and homelessness support in communities where the company has locations.
Our Giving in Action
Eric was a homeless dad who came to stay at Grace Place with his disabled son. Eric found himself homeless many times in his adult life for many reasons including trying to care for his son and maintain employment. He and his son needed help and Grace Place was able to do that. When the two of them came into the shelter, Eric got connected with their case managers and learned he qualified for one of their housing programs. While on this program, Eric was able to complete the WITC-Welding program and graduated last year. Eric said he would never have been able to concentrate on school and care for his son without the help of this program through Grace Place. The staff working with Eric was able to help get disability benefits and other services for Eric’s son. Eric is now connected to the resources he needs and has a degree that helped him find solid employment. Eric is currently working and now has the ability to secure housing on his own. Residents, like Eric and others at Grace Place, are being encouraged to get connected to resources that will help them be strong long into the future.
