Partnering with Community Action to Support Wisconsin’s Youth
Community Action, Inc. is a nonprofit that offers innovative programs to help fight poverty in Wisconsin’s Rock and Walworth counties. County Materials supports the organization’s mission to eliminate barriers and establish clear pathways to economic self-reliance.
One Community Action program supported by County Materials is Beloit Fresh Start. This program provides education and job training to underserved youth. Half of the students’ school week is dedicated to an intensive individualized educational program to complete their high school education. The remainder of their time is spent in construction, community services, leadership development, and employability and life skills classes.
Beloit Fresh Start teaches students punctuality and leadership and helps them discover their interests, build confidence, and find a career path. They’re expected to overcome challenges, help each other succeed, and take part in decision making when given the opportunity.
Through the Sonnentag American Foundation, County Materials supports organizations in four service areas, including Hunger and Homelessness Support, Service Member and Veteran Support, Sexual Abuse and Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring and Skills Building.
