Partnering with Custom Canines to Provide Emotional Support to Veterans
County Materials partners with Custom Canines Service Dog Academy to enhance the lives of individuals with diverse disabilities. Custom Canines is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating and supporting lasting partnerships between veterans and highly skilled service dogs. Canines receive training for military and civilian post-traumatic stress disorder, mobility assistance, and visual aid.
The organization pairs trained service dogs with veterans, free of charge, to aid them in their healing and wellness journey through its Heroes for Heroes program. Service dogs provide stability and support, which can help veterans manage and prevent post-traumatic stress episodes and anxiety attacks. And for veterans who already have a dog, Custom Canines offers an Owner Training Academy, a three-month program designed to help veterans with disabilities train their dogs to perform tasks that help them manage their disability.
County Materials, through the Sonnentag American Foundation, targets support to worthy organizations like Custom Canines. We partner with organizations that support individuals in four key service areas: Hunger & Homelessness Support, Service Members & Veterans Support, Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services, and Mentoring & Skills Building.
