Plant Tour Inspires Student to Pursue a Career in Concrete Manufacturing
Plant tours provide students and educators an opportunity to learn what modern manufacturing is all about. These tours educate about the concrete products we manufacture and help students visualize what a career in concrete manufacturing can look like.
County Materials is a national sponsor of the Central Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance’s Heavy Metal Tour, an annual event that inspires middle school students across Central Wisconsin to pursue rewarding, high-demand careers in manufacturing.
Max, one of our Diesel Mechanics, learned of County Materials during a Heavy Metal Tour he attended years ago. He remembers being intrigued by the truck shop and the problem-solving aspect of the position. The tour encouraged Max to attend a local technical college, where he received a two-year degree in diesel technology. After graduation, he started working and eventually came to work for County Materials, the place that sparked his interest in the skilled trades.
Watch Max recall his Heavy Metal Tour experience and describe what he likes most about working as a Diesel Mechanic for County Materials.
Together, we’re building a company that hardworking people are proud to work for, live near, and do business with since 1946.
