The generous contributions from event participants and supporters helped raise nearly $76,000 for the Sonnentag Foundation during County Materials’ annual charity golf outing held in September 2012. Each year, the charity event brings together a diverse group of individuals, all with the same goal – to raise dollars, raise awareness and build relationships with people who support a common cause.
All event expenses are covered by County Materials, ensuring that every dollar contributed is invested in critical programs. This year, County Materials and the Sonnentag Foundation have partnered with nearly 12 Big Brothers Big Sisters chapters in the Midwest to provide one-to-one mentoring relationships for youth who are paired with caring adult volunteers. In addition, the company and foundation is also supporting Easter Seals of Wisconsin, and specifically, their Wisconsin Elks/Easter Seals Respite Camp in Wisconsin Dells.

Big Brothers Big Sisters’ programs are based on the documented premise that youth need the influence of mature, responsible and supportive mentors during their formative years to reach full potential as adults. Their mentoring programs are proven to have positive academic, socio-emotional and behavioral outcomes for youth that are linked to avoidance of juvenile delinquency, high school graduation and college or job readiness.
The Wisconsin Elks/Easter Seals Respite Camp in Wisconsin Dells recently celebrated 20 years of providing respite care to children and adults with moderate to severe disabilities who require one-to-one care. Respite care remains the number one need of families and caregivers. Easter Seals Respite Camp offers people who care for children and adults with disabilities a temporary rest from care-giving, while providing campers with care, and social and recreational experiences in a safe environment.
