Alternatives, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating domestic and sexual violence through education, prevention, and intervention. The agency was founded in 1978 by seven women and serves Central Indiana’s Hamilton, Hancock, Henry, Madison, Marion and Tipton counties.
Alternatives, Inc. offers comprehensive and collaborative services, including crisis response, housing, transportation, food assistance, and aftercare. The organization provides specialized programming for children to support academic success and the development of healthy relationships and life skills to break the intergenerational cycle of violence. Additionally, Alternatives, Inc. extends its services to the community through education, employment training, dating violence prevention, and other workshops catered to survivors and supporters.
County Materials supports Alternatives, Inc. by helping maintain their various housing services. The organization operates seven emergency shelter units, eighteen transitional housing units, and ten rapid rehousing units.
